Local Knowledge

Lake Jocassee is the northern most lake, nestled in the shadow of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The shoreline is mostly undeveloped allowing access to its natural beauty. The lake is quite deep (and cold) with many waterfalls and hidden.coves

Lake Keowee is a Duke Power lake and has many homes along its shores. Most marine services and ramps are located around the southern end of the lake.

Lake Hartwell is a man-made reservoir bordering Georgia and South Carolina on the Savannah, Seneca and Tugaloo Rivers. Five marinas offer full service, many ramps create excellent access and undeveloped islands offer privacy in many coves.

Lake Russell is a smaller lake with relatively little shore development. There are two major marinas and some smaller service facilities up the creeks. Coves and creeks may have stumps at the water surface and it is important to mind the navigation aids.

Lake Thurmond is the largest of the five with the most eastern dam on the Savannah. Also known as Clarks Hill Lake the southern arm reaches deep into Georgia. Despite its size, Thurmond is not heavily trafficked. The northwestern channel approaching the Russell dam is narrow.
